Is this normal 4 the umbilical cord?

My baby's stump fell off a few days ago and inside the hole I noticed that there was some yellow gooy looking stuff but not oozing and doesnt smell bad. It's still there and seems 2 dry but then gets gooey again the next day.Is this normal? Should I try and clean the stuff out with a q tip and continue putting alcohol? Thanx.
